Our Story
The Problem
Whilst living and working abroad, one of the things that we quickly realised, but had overlooked was that it was essential that we had a secure UK mailing address for various reasons because without a UK address, accessing essential services, becomes nearly impossible. Institutions don't accept PO Boxes. They want a real, physical UK address.
We searched high and low for a personal use address (not tied to a business) and found this extremely difficult. Eventually, we resorted to using a family member's address. This worked for a while, but soon became inconvenient for them and unreliable for us. Mail arrived late, got opened by mistake, and important documents slipped through the cracks. Redirection was an option, but the cost was eye watering and we discovered that many expats were facing exactly the same struggle.
Building the Solution
When we returned to the UK we were determined to fix this, not just for ourselves, but for anyone in the same boat. We secured a property in the beautiful village of Llangadog, Wales and began designing the kind of service that we wished had existed when we needed it most - one that's secure, reliable, easy to use and truly confidential.
As we looked closer, the scope of the problem expanded. It wasn't just expats. People between homes, between jobs, in shared accommodation, or relying on communal mailboxes were all facing the same challenge.
Then came a revelation: a growing number of people living in vans, tiny homes, and off grid setups were also searching for a fixed UK address. The demand was bigger and more diverse than we had ever imagined.
And so, in 2025, My UK Base was born ...
What started as a niche solution has turned into a lifeline for thousands navigating modern llife without a fixed UK address.
